Documentation for C-Werk 2.0.

Previous page Starting a Server  Running multiple C-Werk Clients Next page

The C-Werk Client can be started manually using the Start menu, used for launching user programs in Windows.

Note

To launch the Client from the command line, you must specify the login, password, and server parameters. All parameters are optional.

For example: C:\Program Files\Grundig\C-Werk\bin>C-Werk.exe --login=root --password=root --server=127.0.0.1

To connect to multiple Servers (see Cross-System Client), specify their addresses separated by commas.

For example: C:\Program Files\Grundig\C-Werk\bin>C-Werk.exe --login=root --password=root --server=10.0.11.30, 10.0.11.34

To start working with the software, do the following:

  1. Select StartAll ProgramsC-WerkC-Werk.

    Note

    • You can start the C-Werk Client from the C-Werk Tray Tool utility (see C-Werk Tray Tool).
    • C-Werk executable file C-Werk.exe is located in the <C-Werk installation directory>\C-Werk\bin\ folder.
    • To start the Client in the safe mode with OpenGL software emulation, select: Start Programs C-Werk-C-Werk (safe mode).

    • When the Client is running in the safe mode, the frame rate decreases.

The C-Werk Client will then launch and an authorization window will open.

    Note

Starting the Client when the system is working in the failover mode is described in Connecting to a Node and Configuring of an Domain.

  2. Select a Server to connect to, and specify a port number.

    Attention!

The Client version and the Server version, to which you connect, must match. The DriversPack version must be the same as well. If the Server version is older than the Client version, you will be prompted to update the Client automatically (see Automatic update of a remote Client). We strongly recommended to avoid any connections if the product versions don't match.

    Note

If a remote user connects to the Server, the name or the IP address of the computer with which the connection is established must be entered in the Server name or IP address field.

The order of the Servers in the list is the following:

    1. Preferred Servers (see Selecting Preferred Servers).
    2. The last Server that was connected to.
    3. Other Servers in alphabetical order.
  3. Enter the username and password and click the Connect button.

    Note

When you log into the system for the first time, use the username root, which has administrator permissions. Enter root into the Username and Password fields.

A window will open in which you must enter a new password.

When you hover the cursor over the  icon, a tooltip will appear in which you can see the requirements for the new password (see Configuring the user security policy). Click the Apply button to save the new password.

The administrator then needs to configure the system for multi-user access (for details, see Configuring user permissions).

  4. If the system administrator must confirm the user access (see Creating and configuring roles), enter the corresponding username and password and click the Connect button.

If authorization is successful, a video surveillance monitor will be displayed on the screen.

If the Server to which you connect doesn't belong to any domain, after you click the Connect button in the authorization window, a message will be displayed.

To connect to the Server, you must either create a new domain based on the Server or add the Server to an existing domain.
If you choose the first option, click Apply in the message and follow the instructions given in Creating a new domain. For the second option, click the button and follow the instructions given in Adding a Server to an existing Domain.
