Previous page Starting a Server  Running multiple C-Werk Clients Next page

The C-Werk client can be started manually using the Start menu, which is intended for launching user programs in Windows. To start working with the software, perform the following steps:

  1. Select Start -> All Programs -> C-Werk -> C-Werk

    Note

The C-Werk software package program file C-Werk.exe is located in the folder <C-Werk installation folder>\C-Werk\bin\

    Note

To start the client in Safe mode with OpenGL software emulation,  select: Start-> Programs-> C-Werk-C-Werk (Safe mode).

The C-Werk client will then launch and an authorization window will appear

  2. Select the Server (1).

    Note

If the software is accessed by a remote user, the NetBIOS name or IP address of the computer with which the connection is established should be indicated in the Computer field

    Note

To connect to a Server, which is behind theNATenter the outside local address in the registry:

    1. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Grundig \ NGP and then NTServiceOpts.

    2. Enter the IP address in the --ngp-alt-addr value of this parameter as shown in the figure.

    3. Open the ports on the switch (the default ports are 49999-50099), that you specified on the server during installation. If necessary, you can change the number of ports used in -ngp-port-span (see p.18 Installation).

    4. Save changes.

    Attention!

When a client connects from an external network, only those servers that have access to the external network will be available in the C-Werk domain configuration.

  3. Enter the user name and password (2) and click Connect.

    Note

The first login to the system is done with the user root, which has administrator permissions . Enter root in the User Name and Password fields. The administrator then needs to configure the system for multi-user access described in detail in the section titled Configuring user permissions )

    Attention!

The version of the Server and the version of the user's Client must be the same. The installed versions of the Drivers Pack must be the same as well. If the versions are different, a warning will be displayed. It is strongly recommended not to connect if the product versions do not match.

  4. If the user requires the access confirmation by the system administrator, enter corresponding credentials and click Connect.

Attention!

When you first start the client, the archive settings tab opens (see Configuring Archives).

After the archive is created, camera addition starts automatically (see Adding and removing IP devices). IP Device Discovery Wizard launches.

If authorization is successful, a video surveillance monitor will be displayed on the screen.

Note

If C-Werk is launched in Viewer mode, then after you enter the authorization parameters, a message to this effect will appear (see the section C-Werk in Viewer mode)

If the Server to which C-Werk is connecting does not belong to any C-Werk Domain, after the Connect button in the authorization window is clicked, a message is displayed.

To connect to the Server, you must either create a new C-Werk Domain based on the server or add the Server to an existing C-Werk Domain.
If you choose the first option, click OK in the message and follow the instructions given in the section Creating a new domain. For the second option, click the button and follow the instructions given in the section Adding a Server to an existing C-Werk Domain.
